Relics

Relics are items that increase some of your game stats permanently, at least while you keep them. Some of their effects overlaps/combines with the effect of buffs.

Relics have certain rarity attributes which impacts the chance on receiving them as a reward. They also can be upgraded to Warped or Divine to increase their effects (see below).

Relics are gained mainly from scientist excavations, though you can also get them, rarely, from the Trading post.

Inventory

Relics inventory starts with 10 slots, which can be expanded to 20 by purchasing them for tickets, starting at 5 for the first slot, increasing by 5 for each subsequent slot. Once your inventory is full, you cannot get more relics unless you first delete one (there is no overcapacity). You can use one of your scientists' reward slot to store a relic (the one you just got) while you do inventory management, however this is a cost of opportunity, as the scientist will be idle meanwhile.

Warped/Divine Relics/Book of Secrets

There is a special relic called the Book of Secrets (BoS). With it you can increase your relic's rarity (and power) to Warped or Divine (Divine is the best, and should be your objective). See The Core for details.

Relic table

The effect of the relics stack additively with each other and with buffs. However, the game has some limits to this (hard cap). There is no benefit for adding more relics beyond the hard cap, you just waste relic slots. The "Max. Effect" column shows either this hard cap, or the maximum you can get with 20 Divine/++ relics.

Keep in mind that Buff effects stack with Relic effects. Thus, the real in-game "soft cap/maximum effect" would be the combination of the value in this table, + static buff, + Buff Lab buff. There are only two buffs affected by the hard cap on Relics effects:

• Midas Touch: Cap is 100%, buff is +50%, so with buff active, you need 10 common/5 divine relics to max it.
• Gem Speed Potion: Cap is 75%, so with buff lab active, only 4 Divines are needed to max it.

Where "group" is noted, it means several relics' effects stack additively with each other. The hard cap is always over the combined effect. Where "special" is noted, see notes technical notes below.

Technical notes

Mechanics

• Sword of War: Damage is rounded to the nearest integer. E.g. 7 --> 7.35 --> 7 as (7+0), 33 --> 34.65 --> 35 as (33+2)
• Book of Ingenuity: Does not affect Golden Chests
• Key of Gold: Base rate is 1/158 that a basic chest will appear as a Golden one. But the formula is 1/(158*(100%-KoG)), so the more KoG, the more powerful the effect. At 80%, the rate becomes 1/31 (+500% of base). See Treasure chests for full details.

Max of 100%

• All increases in probabilities are capped at 100% for obvious reasons (you can't get something more often than "always")
• This affects Midas Touch and the Scythes

Combined Effects.

Several relics' effects stack additively with each other. The hard cap is always over the combined effect.

• Copper Pickaxe and Golden Pickaxe
• Bullseye, Eagle Eye and Golden Bow
• Steel Shield and Wooden Shield
• Copper Scythe, Scythe and Golden Scythe
• Light Boot and Light Golden Boots

Strategy

To get the most money, you have to consider your relics layout, along with available buffs. Your session's stats may help with this.

• Golden/Copper Pike are most useful at the beginning of the game, and will lose most of its use by the moon.
