The Buff Lab is found on the Moon, at 1135km (W2-103km). It allows the player to spend energy from the Reactor to purchase various buffs. As multiple copies of the same buff are purchased, the buff durations get added to each other. There is a quest for getting a buff running for 24h.

Most of the purchasable buffs are active during timelapse. There is a version of the Nugget of Attraction (active for a very short time, but paused during the timelapse), but no Midas Touch, Key of Luck or Raining Chests.

Buffs from the Buff Lab stack with common buffs from chests and caves, thus it's possible to have, e.g. a "common" Nugget of Attraction (+50% to money from chests) + a Lab's one (+100%) for a total of +150% in buffs. They also stack with relics effects. The only Buff Lab effect with a cap is the Gem Speed potion.

Available Buffs[]

These buffs are not exactly comparable to the ones found on chests or caves, having different effect sizes and durations. In fact, you can have two copies of the same type of buff, one from cave/chest and another one from the Buff Lab.

For each type of buff, there are three options: A basic one, and two advanced ones. Each advance costs 10x as much energy, but gives 11x as much time, as the previous one, except for the Cargo Expansion buff, which has 3x cost for 3.6x minutes. Note: The third level of Drill Speed potion has a 10x energy cost for a 10.98x time multiplier, which is a possible coding error.

The Energy costs are on the next section.

Name Effect Minutes
Miner speed potion Increase the speed miners find minerals by 100% 5 55 605
Drill speed potion Increases drill speed by 100% 10 110 1208
Nugget of Attraction Increases money from treasure chests by 100% 1 11 121

Cargo Expansion Increases cargo capacity by 50% 60 216 778
Gem Speed Potion Decreases gem crafting time by 20% 15 165 1815

Note: You can fulfill the Quest for a Buff of more than 24h with a single lv.3 Gem Speed Potion (30h) or a lv.3 Drill Speed Potion (20h) + 3x lv.2 ones. See below for the energy required to buy and hold these buffs.

Energy costs[]

At each level of the Buff Lab, the costs are reduced thusly:

  • Level 1: 0% reduction (base)
  • Level 2: 10% reduction
  • Level 3: 20% reduction
  • Level 4: 25% reduction
  • Level 5: 30% reduction

Energy production to sustain[]

Once your reactor becomes powerful enough (which could be as soon as lv.2, but lv.3 is preferrable, and lv.4 will be needed for the highest level buffs) you'll start having enough energy to sustain one or more buffs indefinitely (subject only to timely replacement of fuel rods). This table shows the required energy production per second, rounded to the next highest integer (that ensures you don't get "almost there"). If you're maintaining this without extra battery capacity, or are using rods with shorter timers, you should add some slack in case you timelapse past your time to replace the rod. If you are producing too much energy, you can simply buy the next buff sooner than expected.

As you can see, the Nugget of Attraction buff has a disproportionate cost to maintain, but is not affected by timelapses. So it also can be sustained indefinitely with active use of timelapses.
